Center Moriches Middle School Celebrates Annual Eighth Grade Formal

Posted Date: 06/16/26 (11:37 AM)

Center Moriches Middle School's eighth-grade students recently gathered for an evening of celebration at the school's annual Eighth Grade Formal, which was held at Rock Hill Golf and Country Club in Manorville.

Now in its fourth year, the event has become a cherished tradition for students, marking the culminations of their middle school experiences before beginning the next chapters of their educational journeys in high school.

The formal provides students with an opportunity to come together as a class, dressed in their finest clothes, to celebrate accomplishments and create lasting memories with friends. Many students view the event as a "mini prom," looking forward to the special evening throughout the school year. The celebration included opportunities for photos, dancing, and socializing with friends.

Adding a personal touch to the event, it was planned and coordinated by Mrs. Teresa Horoszewski, 8th grade class advisor, and the eighth-grade class officers played a large role in the planning process, helping to select the menu and contribute ideas to make the evening meaningful for their classmates.

"The Eighth Grade Formal is a wonderful opportunity for our students to celebrate all they have accomplished during their middle school years," Melissa Reggio, Center Moriches Middle School Principal, said. "We are proud of their hard work and growth, and this event gives them a chance to enjoy a memorable evening together before they transition to high school."

The annual event serves as a milestone for Center Moriches Middle School students, recognizing their achievements while fostering a sense of community and school spirit as they prepare for graduation and the exciting opportunities ahead.
