First Days of Middle School!

We’ve had an amazing first couple of days at the middle school! It has been wonderful to see our students settling into their routines, reconnecting with friends, and getting comfortable in their classrooms. Our teachers have truly enjoyed welcoming students back and helping them get off to a great start.

We are so pleased with how smoothly the first few days have gone, and we are excited for all that the year ahead has in store. Thank you for your continued support in making this such a positive start to the school year. We are looking forward to a fantastic year together!  Please see below for a few middle school updates: 


ID Badges
All middle school students were issued ID badges on Center Moriches lanyards on the first day of school.  Middle School students are required to wear their lanyard and ID badge around their neck to school each day.  This is a new system for student safety, and beginning next week, students will be using their badges to "tap" into each class for attendance.  

iReady
As part of our commitment to supporting student growth, all students in grades K–8 will participate in the iReady Inform diagnostic assessment,  in reading and mathematics.  The assessment will be administered three times a year, beginning this month. This year, the assessment has been designed to provide a shorter and more efficient testing experience while continuing to provide reliable information about student learning.  This adaptive, untimed assessment adjusts questions based on each student's responses to identify individual strengths and areas for growth. No studying is necessary, as this is not a graded test. The results will help teachers plan instruction and provide targeted support for students.  Thank you for your continued partnership. Cell Phones
Reminder:  Cell phones are not permitted during the school day.  Cell phones may be used on the bus and after 2:30 pm.  There is a student phone in the main office for students to use if they need to call home.  If you need to reach your child during the school day, please call the middle school main office 631-878-2519. 

Open House
Save the date!  Middle School Open House will take place on Thursday, September 24th from 5:45 - 8:00 pm.  A letter with details regarding Open House will be sent out to all families next week.
