Center Moriches High School Student Laila Cole competed at the winter track and field state qualifier meet on Tuesday February 11th. She finished with a personal best time of 41.48 seconds and holds the Center Moriches school record in the 300 meter dash and will now be competing at the winter track and field New York State Championship meet in March for that event! This is a huge accomplishment, especially since in the winter season, small and large schools are combined, top two finishers advance, and she is the first ever female from Center Moriches who has ever advanced to the New York State Championship meet for winter track and field! History has been made for our community and school! Her hard work and determination got her to where she is. Laila also holds the winter track and field school records not only for the 300 meter dash but also for long jump and the 55 meter dash.
Laila will competing at the NYS Championships in the 390M on March 8th, 2025. Good luck Laila!
