Letter From The Superintendent - May 8, 2025

Posted Date: 5/08/25 (3:33 PM)

Dear Parents/Guardians and Community Members,

As some of you may be aware, due to technical difficulties, the livestream recording of the May 7, 2025 Board of Education meeting did not include sound. This was only brought to our attention after the meeting had ended.

Transparency and continued communication remain our commitment to the community. Below is a recap of our meeting:

  • The Budget Hearing Presentation was delivered by Ms. Keri Loughlin, Assistant Superintendent for Business.

  • Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Soto thanked Mr. William Thompson and Dr. Patricia Flynn-Trace for their years of service to the district and congratulated them on their retirement announcements.

  • One item, 10A, which was a memorandum of agreement with the Center Moriches Teachers Association, was pulled from the consent agenda as a tabled item. The Board of Education entered into a second executive session to discuss the tabled item.

  • The Board later returned to public session and approved the tabled item, 10A (The MOA with the Center Moriches Teachers Association) in a 4 to 1 approval. Board member Mr. Marcus Babzien voted no for the item.

Last night’s presentation is available on the District's website in the Business Office tab. Again, as open communication is very important to our continued partnership, we apologize for any inconvenience that the technical issue with our sound system may have created.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact my office for assistance.

Sincerely,

Dr. Ricardo Soto
Center Moriches Superintendent of Schools
