Student Internet-enabled Devices in Schools

Posted Date: 6/24/25 (3:30 PM)

Dear Parents/Guardians,

On May 6th, 2025, Governor Hochul announced a state wide restriction on student internet-enabled devices in schools. This restriction will be from “bell to bell” during the school day, and will go into effect for the 2025-2026 school year starting on September 1, 2025.

The Center Moriches School District is currently investigating and planning how to best implement the Governor’s restrictions. We have met with various stakeholders to discuss this new mandate, as well as a new policy the district will put into effect.

We welcome constructive feedback and hope to have a positive and meaningful dialogue with all those involved. The District will be sending out a survey to parents and guardians regarding this new policy. Please check the district website for more information as it becomes available, as well as ParentSquare notices that will be sent out regarding this new policy and its implementation.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Dr. Ricardo Soto, Superintendent of Schools
