School Closings

In the event of inclement weather, please be aware that the district may determine the need to either close school for the day or call for a delayed opening. The length of the delay would either be one or two hours depending on the severity of the weather conditions. Bus stops will remain the same, as will all other arrival procedures. The only difference will be the actual start time. Further, in the event of a delayed opening, all before-school activities will be cancelled, including C.H.A.M.P.

In addition, should inclement weather hit suddenly during the course of a regular school day, it may be necessary to dismiss school early to allow for the safe transportation of our students. This will only occur in the event of severe weather or other unforeseen emergency. Please be aware that an early dismissal will be announced via our automated telephone calling system, on multiple radio stations, posted on our website, and, whenever possible, on Channel 12. Should severe inclement weather occur, parents should monitor the list of television and radio stations below for information. In the case of an early dismissal, all after-school activities will be cancelled including C.H.A.M.P.

The safety and welfare of our students is of the utmost concern and know that we will work diligently to insure that pertinent information is posted in as many places as possible so that you may be made aware of closings, delayed openings, or early dismissal.

Closings will be posted and/or announced via our Connect Ed phone system, on the Center Moriches district website, and at the following locations:
