Center Moriches Celebrates P.S. I Love You Day

Center Moriches students painted the town purple in honor of P.S. I Love You Day. Celebrations took place throughout the week of Feb. 5 as students and staff worked to spread kindness and eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health. This year’s P.S. I Love You theme was “Love is Meant to be Given.”

Center Moriches High School held a spirit week for the school community to come together. Just before the culminating P.S. I Love You Day, founder Brooke DiPalma visited Center Moriches High School to share how the event originated and has grown to be celebrated in more than 600 communities around the globe. Students were empowered to recognize the signs and symptoms of mental illness, be kind to one another and join the P.S. I Love You Day movement.

During the assembly, high school student leaders shared how Center Moriches was participating. Earlier in the week, students visited local business to spread awareness and get them involved in the district’s upcoming “Using Our Voices” Mental Health Run Series. They decorated the high school with purple displays and wore purple on Feb. 9. Additionally, the high school held a volleyball tournament fundraiser. The winners of the tournament chose which mental health awareness organization to donate the proceeds to.
