Center Moriches students and families attended the Cultures Around the World event, held on May 21 at Center Moriches High School. Each participant was given a passport, which was stamped as individuals visited classrooms marked by international flags. Each classroom hosted crafts and featured informational posters about various countries including China, Mexico, Ireland, Spain, Brazil, Italy and more. The auditorium was also reserved for performances, such as Native American and traditional Mexican dancing.

Prior to the event, sixth grade students researched a country and crafted an informational poster with facts, important sites, traditional food and decorative photos. Members of the National Junior Honor Society also volunteered to assist with crafts.

Not only did participants acquire a taste of cultures worldwide, but the community had an enjoyable time learning about countries they would one day like to visit.
